Legacy of Life Hawai’i is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization and the only organization in Hawai'i federally designated to recover organs and tissue for transplant. Legacy of Life Hawai`i works closely with our island hospitals to cultivate an understanding in our diverse communities that life is worth giving.
The mission Legacy of Life Hawai’i is to save and enhance lives through recovering organs and tissue for transplant; encourage organ donation through community outreach and education; and honor and support organ donors and their families.
Our trained staff is available 24 hours a day to counsel families and medical staff about organ and tissue donation; determine medical suitability for donation, and to coordinate the recovery of donated organs and tissue. Legacy of Life Hawai’i collaborates with the Hawaii Lions Eye Bank and Makana Foundation to promote eye donation. Our professional and administrative team believes in what we do and strives each day to make a difference in people’s lives.
